Peak District – The Roaches & Lud’s Church

This week I headed out to meet my friend Andy for another very wet and wild wander in the glorious Peak District. We parked up at Gradbach and made our way up and over the moors to the southern slopes of Hen Cloud, from there we battled through the wind and some heavy rain towards the top of the Roaches. 

  

The next stop was the impressive Lud’s Church which has a fascinating and colourful history. We then had a short wander following the River Dane back to the car….. Then as is customary, coffee and cake but this time it was at Flash Bar Stores.

Peak District - Kinder Scout - Hayfield Route

Peak District - Kinder Scout - Hayfield Route This weeks wander was a nostalgic return to a classic route that I've no doubt many people watching will have done... Kinder Scout's western edge from Hayfield. It is such a great walk that I'd have to say is up there in my top 5 Peak District wanders. The route starts at the Bowden Bridge Quarry car park and then climbs up to Kinder via the Kinder Reservoir and William Clough. On my way across to Kinder Low I visit part of the wreckage of 2 Canadian Sabre Jets, A spot held sacred by the Aetherius society and Kinder Downfall. On the way down I visit the notoriously hard to find Kinder Low Cavern before arriving back at the car. This route is jam packed full of great sights and points of interest and its a must for any visitor to the Glorious Peak District. Related Links. Asia Trip - Scuba Diving with Sharks - Pattaya Thailand In this video we fly from Phnom Penh in Cambodia to Bangkok Thailand, we then travel by taxi to the resort of Pattaya. The following day Ray and I got the opportunity to go Scuba Diving with Sharks which was such an amazing experience. We swam with numerous types of shark, turtle, stingrays and thankfully I captured the action with my GoPro this time. Asia Trip - Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Asia Trip - Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Today was a very good day indeed, we got to do the one thing I had hoped to do while in Kuala Lumpur and that was to visit the top of the Petronas Twin Towers. We arrived early and got our tickets to firstly take a ride to the sky bridge and then to the viewing deck at the top. The Petronas Twin Towers are currently the tallest twin towers in the world and they were the tallest building in the world from 1998 - 2004. After our visit we had a wander around the KLCC shopping centre in the basement of the towers and checked out the F1 Display. Next weekend is the Formula 1 Malaysian Grand Prix so there was a big Mercedes Display and also a Sauber Petronas F1 Car, Lewis Hamilton & Nico Rosberg are due to be making an appearance in a few days but we are heading to Cambodia tomorrow. Asia Trip - Train from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia

Asia Trip - Train from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia Today was a relatively relaxed and uneventful day in comparison to recent ones. We got the train from Singapore at 8:30am from the Woodlands Checkpoint after clearing immigration to enter Malaysia. We then had a 7 hour train ride through the jungle landscape of Malaysia to the capital Kuala Lumpur. We had chosen to ride in an air conditioned carriage this time which sadly had steamed windows so not a great deal could be seen as we headed north. We arrived in KL at 16:00, got free wifi in the station and booked a hotel around the corner. A relaxed evening was had before we called it a night in preparation for a visit to the Petronas Twin Towers tomorrow. Asia Trip - Flying From Phuket Thailand To Singapore Our Asia adventure moves further south in this video as we fly out of Phuket in Thailand bound for Singapore. We arrived at lunch time and had a wander around the city for a while. I then went back to the hotel and utilised the super fast wifi to upload the backlog of videos I had from the trip. Thankfully the upload speed was 10mbps so I managed to upload 5 videos within an hour.... Asia Trip - Koh Phi Phi Island Today's adventure saw us head for the beautiful island of Koh Phi Phi to spend a couple of days there. We got the ferry from Phuket and spent a great day wandering around the island, we then head up the hill to check out the spectacular views from the sunset viewpoint. Koh Phi Phi was hit by a tsunami on Boxing Day 2004 and it had been a place I'd been interested in visiting for some time, I wasn't disappointed. We flew down with Bangkok Airways and then got a taxi to the hotel in Patong. Asia Trip - Bangkok to Chiang Mai Overnight Train We had a quick change of plan this morning, the later overnight sleeper train was fully booked so we decided to get the earlier none air conditioned version :-) the train Departed Bangkok at 12:45 and arrived in Chiang Mai at 04:05. It was a very interesting journey and I really enjoyed watching the world go by.... Asia Trip - Flying to Thailand Days 1 / 2 of the trip was taken up with flying from Birmingham to Bangkok via Dubai with minimal sleep. We arrived in Bangkok, headed for Khoa San Road and found some accommodation near bye and had a quick wander around the area after lunch.
