Lake District - Wild Camping - Mosedale Horseshoe
Lake District - Wild Camping - Mosedale Horseshoe After an absence of around a year it was high time that a trip to the Lake District was planned, thankfully my mate Stevo had a few days off so we decided to head to Cumbria for a wander. The weather wasn't looking too great when I checked earlier in the week, thankfully the outlook improved slightly as the date approached and the forecast said it would be better in the western Lakes. With that in mind I thought a trip to Wasdale would be a great idea and we could tick off a few Wainwrights that I had yet to summit. We arrived in Wasdale and managed to grab a parking spot outside the Wasdale Head Inn, we made our way straight up Kirk Fell and camped just below the summit. The next day we headed down to Black Sail Pass and then up on to Pillar. After Pillar we headed for Scout Fell, Steeple and then across towards Red Pike. After Red Pike we made our way down to Dore Head, it was here that we decided to skip Yew Barrow after assessing our remaining food supplies. It will always be there another day. It was a quick walk down and then around to the Wasdale Head Inn where we savoured some great food and drink. Lake District - Wild Camping - Helvellyn Range 2008
Lake District - Wild Camping - Helvellyn Range 2008 This video is from a trip I did with my mate Keith back in September 2008. We arrived in the Lake District on afternoon, walked a few Wainwrights, Wild Camped at Grisedale Tarn and then attacked the Helvellyn Range and a few more. It was a great trip and we managed 15 Wainwrights in 24hrs. It was filmed using my old Canon A640 so sadly it isn't HD, also sorry about the wind noise :-) My Websites http://www.DeanRead.net & http://www.PeakRoutes.com Twitter http://www.twitter.com/Dean_Read & http://www.twitter.com/PeakRoutes Subscribe to my channel http://bit.ly/YouTubeDeanRead Don't forget to watch in HD! Peak District - Wild Camping - Bamford Edge
Peak District - Wild Camping - Bamford Edge The location for this wild camp was Bamford Edge in the Peak District. My friend Ray and I decided to head out for a last minute camp when I noticed the weather was due to play nicely. We grabbed our army issue bivvy bags, picked up a few beers and headed out to enjoy what was to be an amazing sunset. The music used in this movie is an unnamed creation that I made a few years ago with Propellerheads Reason.. I'm a big fan of Enigma so the track was made in a chilled out Enigma style.

Thunderstorm - GoPro Hero 3
Thunderstorm - GoPro Hero 3 We have had some glorious summery days recently, the arrival of rain and thunder was inevitable... this is the UK after all. Thankfully though my GoPro was fully charged when the thunder arrived :-) I went outside in the rain for 20 minutes and this video is the result. I have sped up the bits in between so you can see the best bits.... the Lightening.

Peak District - Shining Tor Wild Camp
Peak District - Shining Tor Wild Camp It's always great to get out in the Peak District, even if it's only for a very short time. A few of my twitter friends had planned a 2 day walk in the western Peak and I couldn't resist the temptation to join them for at least one night. I finished work at 19:00, met them at the Cat & Fiddle, camped up on Shining Tor, awoke at 04:45 and then headed to work for 07:00. It was a great night with great company.

Down by the River Amber - Amber Valley in Derbyshire
Down by the River Amber - Amber Valley in Derbyshire My mate Ray and I went for a walk down memory lane today. We headed for a walk along the River Amber which flows through Amber Valley in Derbyshire. During our childhood we spent many a happy time messing about in the river here, it was great to go back and see how the place had changed. Jeff Wayne - War of the Worlds the New Generation
I recently purchased the Jeff Wayne - "War of the Worlds the New Generation" album. I was a huge fan of the original and have been greatly anticipating getting hold this new version. I have listened to it all the way through 4 times and this is my honest review... It's a really nice album that keeps the original feel but brings it up to date with some modern twists... The original album would take some beating though and it does have a few downsides.

Peak District - Bleaklow in the Snow
It always seems that when my friend Andy and I go walking we always get rain. We don’t mind though as we will walk no matter what the weather, today however the roll of bad luck had finally ended. We got the most beautiful wintery conditions with perfect blue skies, snow, ice and the hills to ourselves. We sett off from Birchin Clough at around 09:45, headed down in the Lady Clough and then up the path through the Pine Forest. We crossed over to Doctors Gate, walked along the Roman Road and then swung northward along Devil’s Dike. We had a great walk up to the summit of Bleaklow, swung eastwards to Bleaklow Stones and then headed back down via Grains in the Water. We climbed over the moors once again and then made our way back to Lady Clough via Upper North Grain.

Edinburgh Castle - The One O'Clock Gun
We visited Edinburgh Castle today and I must say I really enjoyed it. We purchased the audio guides, plugged ourselves in and went for a 5 hour adventure through history. Obviously, we had to make sure we were out in the courtyard for the one o'clock gun. It was the first time I had been in the city at the right time to hear it. It was pretty loud up close and I think the only person who was ready for the bang was the soldier pulling the trigger :-)
