Autumn – Forest Wild Camping – Tarp & Bivvy

In this video I head out in to the forest again with my friends Ray & Jay, autumn is in full swing and we made the most of the seasonal splendour that is currently on offer. As always I took a walk up to the forest which I try to vary each time so the footage is different. This time I decided to bring the Canon 7D armed with a 50mm F/1.4 to give it a go, I had inherited it while in Australia from my father when he switched to a mirrorless camera, I’m very happy indeed with the quality of video that it has produced and I’m certainly looking forward to doing more with it.

Once again I used my Terra Nova Adventure 2 Tarp paired with an Army Issue Goretex Bivvy, Jay was using his DD Hammock and Tarp which you can see in the video.

It was also the third outing of my Rode VideoMic Go which I’ve been very happy with, I love the fact that it is powered by the camera as I know I’d forget to switch it on if I’d gone for the Pro version. The Dead Cat wind protector did it’s job this time but I’m yet to see how it really performs in high winds, no doubt I’ll give it a thorough testing in the weeks to come and I’ll let you know what I think.

We had a really great night relaxing by the fire, the colder months are certainly on their way now as it was very chilly away from the fire, if i’m honest I probably could have done with my down jacket. All being well I’ll be out in the Peak District again in the next week or so and more than likely returning to the forest again in the near future. As always, thanks for watching / reading / listening and I’ll speak to you again soon.

The music in the video is by myself “Dean Read – Drifting Away”, you may recognise it from my 2014 Highlights Video. Footage shot with a Canon EOS 7D DSLR with a Canon EF 50mm – f/1.4 USM Lens, a RODE VideoMic Go Microphone with a RODE Dead Cat Wind Protector and edited in iMovie
